The Malaria Threat Map is an interactive geospatial data visualization platform maintained by the WHO Global Malaria Program that tracks four major biological threats to malaria control and elimination worldwide. The four threats covered are: (1) vector insecticide resistance, the largest available database on insecticide susceptibility of Anopheles mosquitoes, covering data from over 88 countries; (2) antimalarial drug efficacy and resistance, including resistance to artemisinin-based therapies in Plasmodium falciparum and P. vivax; (3) P. falciparum hrp2/3 gene deletions, which cause false-negative rapid diagnostic test results; and (4) invasive malaria vector species. Data is contributed by member states, research institutions, and NGOs from published and unpublished reports. The platform supports filtering by species, insecticide class, treatment, and study type, and includes animated time sliders, summary dashboards, subnational maps, and downloadable datasets.
