The UNAIDS Laws and Policies Analytics platform is a publicly available data tool that presents detailed, country-level information on laws, regulations, and policies that affect national HIV/AIDS responses. It allows users to explore how legal and policy environments either support or hinder progress toward ending AIDS. The data are primarily sourced from the National Commitments and Policy Instrument (NCPI), a reporting tool completed by both national authorities and civil society partners. The platform displays information across roughly 50 policy areas, including laws on HIV testing, treatment access, criminalization of HIV transmission, same-sex relationships, drug use, sex work, travel restrictions, stigma and discrimination protections, and access to harm reduction services. Users can view individual country profiles, compare legal environments across countries, and analyze trends over time. Each data point is linked to its source, whether from official national submissions, verified documents, or secondary legal analysis.
