The COVID Tracking Project, launched from The Atlantic, obtains, organizes, and publishes high-quality data about the COVID-19 outbreak in the United States. Every day, they collect and compile data on COVID-19 testing and patient outcomes from the public health authority in all 50 states, 5 territories, and the District of Columbia until 2021-03-07. Where data is missing from government websites, it was supplemented by available numbers from official press conferences with governors or public health authorities. The data are available at national and state level in CSV or via an API. The data contains information about number of new and cumulative deaths, the number of new, current and cumulative hospitalization, the number of cumulative and current hospitalization in ICU, the number of new and cumulative negative, positive and total number of tests, the number of new and current patient on ventilator, and number of recovered. As not all states are reporting all the information collected in this dataset, the dataset also provides a "grade" for each state based on their reporting performances.
